Employment Services Certificate Course- August

06 Aug 2019 @ 9:00am EDT
07 Aug 2019 @ 4:00pm EDT

MARO is pleased to offer the Employment Services Certificate Course, developed by TransCen, Inc. The certificate curriculum is endorsed by the Association for Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE).   This Employment Services Certificate is comprised of 12 hours of face to face training and a 28 hour online course of instruction, mentoring, and field based experiences. The first 12 hours of training will engage job development staff at all levels, developing a cohort of employment service professionals, and working to build skilled communities of practice around the state.  Upon completion of the required 40 hour training, participants will receive an "ACRE Certificate of Achievement."

Funding from the Employment First appropriation will support delivery - time and travel will be the only expense for those organizations sending staff.  We are pleased to report that capacity exists to register more than one representative from your organization.

Priority will be given to staff from organizations that have been actively involved in the ongoing Employment First efforts sponsored by the  Office of Labor Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) initiative, and the Michigan Employment First efforts supporting Executive Order No. 2015-15 titled Employment First in Michigan.

Each session will be facilitated by MARO Director of Education and Technology, Renee Hall.  Co-trainers have been selected from MARO member organizations that have been authorized by TransCen as instructors, through MARO's participation in the Employment First State Leadership Mentoring Program.  Trainers include Heather Barsy of MRC Industries, Christal Albig of Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Michigan, Carrie Kerbrat of Community Enterprises Saint Claire County, Emilia Gutierrez of Do-All, Inc, Marilyn Noble of Lake State Industries, and Kaylee Zapata of Lapeer Teamwork.

Registration is now open to all employment service providers on a first-come, first-served basis, with consideration given to the priority target audience identified above.  Sessions are June 18 & 19,  July 24 & 25, and August 6 & 7.  All sessions will be held at Lansing Community College West in Lansing, and are limited to 25 attendees each
